Take a closer look
Two polymers.
One considered solution.
PP or HDPE. Virgin resin or an approved recycled blend. Start with the material, then build the right colour and additive package around it.
PP is often selected for stiffness and dimensional control. HDPE is often chosen for toughness and handling durability. Resin grade, crate geometry and operating temperature determine the final balance.

Sub-applications / Products
Every crate has a purpose.
Masterbatch selection starts with what your crate carries, where it travels and how it is handled.

01Ventilated Crates
Open walls allow airflow for fruit, vegetables and fresh produce. Consider colour consistency and UV protection for outdoor use.
02Solid-Wall Crates
Closed sides help contain small parts and loose goods. Match opacity, surface finish and additive needs to the contents.
03Stackable Crates
Designed to sit securely when loaded. Balance material stiffness, impact resistance and dimensional consistency.
04Nestable Crates
Tapered shapes reduce empty storage volume. Check shrinkage, fit and toughness through repeated handling.
05Stack-and-Nest Crates
Combine loaded stacking with compact empty returns. Validate geometry and material performance in both configurations.
06Foldable / Collapsible Crates
Folding walls save space in return logistics. Evaluate hinge fatigue, impact performance and colour uniformity across components.
07Lidded Crates
Lids help protect contents during storage and transport. Match lid and body colour, fit and handling performance.
08Industrial Crates
Built around component handling and demanding logistics. Assess impact, stiffness, static-control or fire-performance requirements.
09Harvest Crates
From field collection to sorting and transport. Prioritise sunlight resistance, handling durability and the required food-contact documentation.
Crate types describe end-use applications. Bajaj supplies masterbatches for their manufacture.

Injection moulding
From pellet.
To everyday essential.
A typical manufacturing sequence for PP and HDPE crates. Machine settings follow the resin, masterbatch and mould specifications.
Select the formulation
Choose the base resin, approved regrind content, colour and functional additives. Confirm the masterbatch carrier and recommended dosage.
Meter and mix
Use controlled dosing for an even blend. Keep material clean and handle or dry it as required by the supplier’s instructions.
Plasticise and inject
Melt and homogenise the blend, then inject into the closed crate mould. Tune the fill profile for ribs, handles and wall sections.
Pack and cool
Apply holding pressure and controlled cooling. Balance shrinkage, cycle time and dimensional stability across the part.
Eject and assemble
Remove the cooled crate, trim as needed and assemble lids or folding parts. Check surfaces, hinges and fit.
Test and release
Verify shade, weight and dimensions, then test drop impact, stacking and the specified end-use properties before release.
Features & benefits
Performance you can see.
Protection built in.

The right formulation.
A better-performing crate.
Bajaj masterbatches help tune the qualities that matter — from a consistent finish to application-specific protection.
Colour is only the beginning. A considered additive package helps your crate meet the conditions of repeated handling, storage and transport.
Consistent appearance
Dispersed pigments help deliver uniform colour, opacity and brand recognition across production batches.
Outdoor resilience
Selected UV stabilisers help limit photo-oxidative damage and preserve useful properties under sunlight.
A considered strength balance
Impact modifiers and mineral-filled grades allow formulators to balance toughness, stiffness and dimensional control.
More predictable processing
Compatible carriers and appropriate stabilisation support repeatable moulding. PP nucleating agents may help optimise cooling.
Functional surfaces
Specified antistatic or antimicrobial packages can add targeted functionality when validated for the finished product.
Value across repeated use
A formulation matched to the job can support durable reusable crates while managing material cost and quality targets.
Results depend on resin, formulation, dosage, geometry and processing. Finished-crate testing establishes performance; no universal load, service-life or cycle-time improvement is implied.

A few useful answers
Before you mould.
Can the same masterbatch be used in both PP and HDPE crates?
Only when its carrier, pigment or additive chemistry and processing window are suitable for both. Confirm compatibility for the exact grade; PP-focused modifiers, talc formulations and nucleating agents should not be assumed suitable for HDPE.
Which masterbatches should I choose for outdoor harvest crates?
Start with a colour grade suited to outdoor exposure and a matched UV stabiliser package. Then assess impact requirements, resin quality, operating temperatures and the applicable food-contact requirements.
Are these grades approved for food-contact crates?
Food-contact suitability must be confirmed for the exact grade, dosage, intended food, contact conditions and relevant market. Obtain the required declarations and test the finished crate where applicable.
Does an antistatic masterbatch make a crate ESD-safe?
Not automatically. Electronics packaging requires a defined electrical performance target and testing under the intended conditions. Specify the required resistance range and assess whether an antistatic or conductive system is appropriate.
What should I share to get a grade recommendation?
Share PP or HDPE resin grade, recycled content, crate design and weight, colour reference, processing conditions, indoor or outdoor use, temperature range and required load, drop or special-performance tests.
