Box Strapping is also known as bundling & banding is the process of applying a strap ( PP or PET mostly) to an item used in industrial settings to combine, stabilize, hold, reinforce to fasten it . This helps keep the materials looking good, functioning properly, and making it to their final destination safely. It has multiple purposes such as securing loads of freight to prevent movement during transit, especially those items shipped on flatbed trucks or open railcars , buldinling, untizing or bailing loose materials, securing products / cartons stacked into pallets .
Generally ,PP strap (oriented or tensilized) is an economic material designed for light to medium duty unitizing, palletizing & bundling. This product offers higher elongation at break but tends to have irrecoverable dead stretch with constant stress.
For heavy duty applications , Polyester ( PET) & Nylon ( PA 6, 66) are preferable ( oriented or tensilized). They are the strongest plastic strapping products used as a viable alternative to steel strapping in some industries which requires excellent retained tension on rigid loads, recovery properties to facilitate a load absorb impact without strap breakage.
