BAJAJ MASTERBATCHES FOR
FOAM EXTRUSION

It’s a process of melting plastic in an extruder, then adding a foaming chemical to create a cellular structure within the molten plastic. The foamed plastic is then formed by an extrusion or molding process. Commonly used foam extrusion process is XLPE & EPE Foams.
Expanded Polyethylene foam (EPE), is one of the most widely used plastic foams which is made by melting of expanded pellets (ie) EPE beads through heating, subjected to blowing agent and then explanded through cooling into a mold in a steam chest to make different shapes & objects as per the requirements. It is a lightweight, semi-rigid, flexible closed cell foam, most commonly used in packaging, for impact and shock absorption, vibration dampening and surface protection. It is also used in gym floor mats, Industrial floorings and to certain extent for insulation as well.
Cross-linked polyethylene foam (XLPE) is a closed-cell foam characterized by a compact feel and resistance to water. It is made in a batch type operation wherein PE is mixed with Organic peroxide & Blowing / foaming agent , then compressed and subjected to cross linking through heat and pressure at an elevated temperature . Finally it’s made as desired form / shape as per the requirements. As a closed-cell foam characterized by low moisture permeability and high buoyancy, it is widely used in different types of flotation equipment, food processing, gaskets, seals, toys, and expansion joints.
