Our oxo-biodegradable masterbatch is a performance-driven additive formulation designed to impart controlled oxidative biodegradability in conventional polyolefins such as PE (LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE) and PP (homopolymer and copolymer), without compromising mechanical integrity during use-phase.
Optimized for film extrusion, injection molding, and blow molding applications, this masterbatch enables transition to environmentally responsible plastics while retaining the processability and cost-efficiency of traditional polymers.
Built-In Degradability
Formulated with metal salt-based pro-oxidants (typically manganese or iron stearates), this masterbatch initiates a two-phase degradation process:
Abiotic Oxidative Degradation: Triggered by UV radiation, heat, and mechanical stress, it breaks the polymer backbone into low-molecular-weight oxidized oligomers through free-radical chain scission.
Biotic Assimilation : The oxidized fragments are rendered hydrophilic and bioavailable to microbial colonies, enabling complete mineralization to CO₂, H₂O, and biomass under appropriate environmental conditions (e.g., soil burial, compost piles).
