Bajaj Masterbatches · Plast FR
Flame retardant.
Performance built in.
Flame Retardant Masterbatch for PP and PE applications. Engineered to help slow flame propagation while balancing processing and end-product performance.

Designed for demanding applications
Small addition.
A meaningful difference.
Flame retardants interfere with the combustion process through physical or chemical action. Bajaj Plast FR brings this functionality into a convenient masterbatch format, using only PP or PE carrier resins.

Why flame retardancy matters
Address fire behaviour.
At the material level.
When plastic is exposed to an ignition source, the formulation influences how it burns. A suitable flame-retardant system can help limit continued burning after that source is removed.
Choose the grade around your polymer, processing method, wall thickness and required fire test. Validate the finished formulation under the conditions relevant to your product.
Key features & application benefits
More considered performance.
From pellet to product.
What your application can gain from a correctly selected and validated Bajaj Flame Retardant Masterbatch.
Reduced flame propagation
Helps slow the spread of flame within a suitably formulated PP or PE product.
Self-extinguishing behaviour
Supports formulations designed to stop flaming after the ignition source is removed, subject to the specified test.
A balance of properties
Grade selection considers fire performance alongside the strength, flexibility and appearance required by the application.
Polyolefin compatibility
PP and PE carrier options help match the masterbatch to the base resin and processing route.
Convenient pellet dosing
Masterbatch form makes controlled addition and blending practical during plastics processing.
A clearer qualification route
Define the required fire rating, validate the formulation and document performance at the specified thickness.

How flame retardancy works
Interrupt the process.
Reduce continued burning.

An ignition source introduces heat.
Heat can cause a polymer to release combustible decomposition products. Flame-retardant selection begins with understanding the polymer and the intended use.
The additive system intervenes.
Depending on its chemistry, a flame-retardant system can act in the gas phase, promote a protective barrier or absorb heat. The mechanism is specific to the selected grade.
The finished formulation is evaluated.
Assess burning behaviour together with mechanical properties, processing and appearance. The measured result belongs to the tested formulation and specimen conditions.
UL 94 · Understanding the test
Performance that is tested.
Ratings that are specific.
Discuss V-0, V-1 or V-2 requirements with Bajaj when selecting the formulation for your application.

Horizontal burning · HB
Illustrates horizontal specimen testing to assess burning behaviour.

Vertical burning · V-0 / V-1 / V-2
Illustrates vertical specimen testing, including burning time and flaming drips.
The animations explain test methods; they are not grade-specific test reports. Confirm the applicable rating, dosage, resin formulation and specimen thickness with Bajaj. UL 94 does not define V-3 or V-4 classifications, and a material rating does not by itself certify the complete end product.

Your questions, answered
The details that matter.
Which carrier resins are available?
Bajaj Flame Retardant Masterbatch is offered only in PP and PE carrier-resin bases. Select the grade according to your base polymer and processing conditions.
What dosage should I use?
Dosage depends on the grade, base resin, other additives, product thickness and targeted test. Ask Bajaj for a grade recommendation and confirm performance through trials.
Does a masterbatch rating apply to every finished product?
No. Flame performance must be confirmed for the final formulation and relevant specimen thickness. Request the grade-specific test report and check its conditions against your product.
Is flame-retardant plastic fireproof?
No. Flame retardants modify burning behaviour under defined conditions. Product design, installation and application-specific testing remain essential.
