Temperature Setting
Temperature setting are crucial parameter for proper plastic processing ,hence one should check temperature controller, thermocouple and solid state relay(SSR)
- when you cold start the machine ,wait for 2hours.
Uneven tack or cling
Uneven dispersion of PIB in the film
No tack or cling effect
- PIB addition insufficient
- PIB getting degraded due to high barrel temperatures
- Poor PIB migration to the surface due to higher crystallinity
- Increase PIB addition
- Decrease barrel temperatures
- Increase cooling or chilling of the film immediately
Variable tack
- Rate of cooling of film not uniform due to frost line moving up or down, dimension of bubble changing leading to change in bubble diameter
- Film is not used under similar conditions prior to testing
- Maintain uniform cooling rate by controlling frost line height and by uniform film dimensions
- Maintain similar aging conditions
Telescoping of rolls during storage
- High or uneven reeling tension of rolls
- Incorrect storage conditions
- Uneven film thickness
- Poor quality of cores
- Optimise the reeling tension
- Store the rolls at 20–30°C
- Maintain uniform film thickness
- Use good quality cores
Noise during unwinding
- High peel adhesion
- High stiffness modulus and crystallisation characteristics of the film
- Careful control of cooling of the film immediately after extrusion
- Use of blends of LLDPE with LDPE, selection of more flexible, lower stiffness polyethylene
Film breaking in wrapping machine
