Temperature Setting

Temperature setting are crucial parameter for proper plastic processing ,hence one should check temperature controller, thermocouple and solid state relay(SSR)

  • when you cold  start the machine ,wait for 2hours.

Uneven film/tape thickness

  1. 1. Improper die gap adjustment
    2. Fluctuating extrusion temperature
    3. Variation in resin melt flow index

1. Check and set die gap uniformly
2. Stabilize heating zones
3. Use resin with consistent MFI

Tape breakage during stretching
 

1. Excessive moisture in resin
2. Overstretching ratio
3. Resin degradation

1. Pre-dry resin before extrusion
2. Optimize draw/stretch ratio
3. Avoid overheating of resin

Poor tape strength

1. Low orientation
2. Improper cooling
3. Resin with poor tensile properties

1. Increase stretching orientation
2. Optimize cooling roll temperature
3. Select high-tenacity PP resin

High shrinkage in tapes

1. Inadequate heat setting
2. High quench water/chill roll temperature
3. Resin with high shrink tendency

1. Improve heat-setting during orientation
2. Reduce cooling roll temperature
3. Use resin with lower shrinkage

Fibrillation of tapes

  1. 1. Poor dispersion of additives
    2. Excessive stretching
    3. Resin with wide molecular weight distribution

1. Use slip/antifibrillation masterbatch
2. Reduce draw ratio
3. Select resin with narrow molecular weight distribution

Poor stitch/loop strength in bag
 

1. Low tensile strength of tapes
2. Uneven tape thickness
3. Inadequate extrusion parameters

1. Improve tape strength via orientation control
2. Maintain uniform die gap and cooling
3. Optimize extrusion and stretching settings

Gel formation / die lines
 

1. Contaminated resin
2. Polymer degradation at die lips
3. Poor filtration

1. Clean and maintain die lips regularly
2. Avoid resin overheating
3. Use finer mesh screen changer

Low bag burst strength
 

1. Poor tape tensile strength
2. Improper weaving quality
3. Resin not suitable for heavy-duty bags

1. Improve stretching process to enhance strength
2. Ensure uniform tape weaving tension
3. Use high-strength PP resin grades
