ANTI STAT ADDITIVE
Prevention of dust & sparking
How it works ?
Anti-stat agents are added to polymers to provide static protection by lowering the resistivity of the material. Different anti-stat additives can be used, depending on the level of stat protection needed and how long the anti-static effect needs to last. Most plastic materials are electrical insulators and have the ability to support high static build-up.
Mechanism
Significance of Antistat
Anti-stat agents are added to polymers to provide static protection by lowering the resistivity of the material. Different anti-stat additives can be used, depending on the level of static protection needed and how long the anti-stat effect needs to last.
know more
Antistatic masterbatches are based on fatty acid ester type of anti-stat agents to neutralize the charges on the surface of the polymer. By using anti-stat additives, problems caused by static electricity charges will be reduced or eliminated. Commonly occurring problems are: -Dust pick up which can ruin clarity and surface finish.
Additional Features
When the unprotected plastic is brought into contact with another material, loosely bound electrons pass across the interface. When these materials are then separated, one surface has an excess charge, while the other has a deficiency of electrons.
know more
Antistats function to either dissipate or promote the decay of static electricity. Secondary benefits of antistat incorporation into polymer systems include improved processability and mold release, as well as better internal and external lubrication.
